Promo for Glee’s Grease — Season 4, Episode 6: Our In-Depth Analysis of “Glease”

Grease is the word. No, hold on a second. Scratch that: Glease is the word!

The McKinley High School production of Grease hit the stage during November 15’s Glee Season 4, Episode 6: “Glease,” and from the looks of things, it’s going to be plenty dramatic. We’re breaking down the promo: second-by-second, frame-by-frame in search of clues for what to expect. Here’s what we’ve managed to uncover.

00:01 — Greased Lightning!
The students of McKinley High are ready for their big performance. Sam (Chord Overstreet) — aka Kenickie — gets the whole thing started off.

00:02 — “All new next Thursday”
That’s right. No more annoying five-week hiatuses for us. Glee is back with an all-new episode in only one week. Ryder (Blake Jenner) and the boys stand in Kurt's dad’s auto shop. They’ve got an old Grease car, and they’re ready to fix it up.

00:05 — Here’s the first look at Ryder in costume for Grease.
The preppy white ‘50s-style sports jacket. The tight black clothes underneath. That unmistakable John Travolta hair. What do you think of Ryder as Danny: Did the right guy get the gig?

00:06 — And there’s Marley as Sandy!
She’s got the Olivia Newton-John hair, the skin-tight black outfit, everything. Way to work it, girl.

00:07 — Wait a second. Did Brody and Cassie (Kate Hudson) just hook up?
Because that certainly looks like what’s going on. Brody (Dean Geyer), stay away from Rachel’s (Lea Michele) dance teacher! The age difference is just gross.

Luckily, it appears that Brody and Cassandra are just performing a dance number together, but we’re still not totally convinced that there’s nothing else going on right now. He’s shirtless, and they’re practically spooning on the floor. Certainly looks a bit suspicious to us.

00:08 — Oh, and now she’s straddling him.
Well, that’s comforting. We know this is just for a dance performance, but still. Get a room, you two.

00:09 — Kurt’s at NYADA!
He’s probably just visiting. But still, this is a first. Somebody make this boy audition for mid-year admission, stat. Also, Kurt (Chris Colfer) is impressed by Kate Hudson’s abs. But then again, who isn’t impressed with Kate Hudson’s abs?

00:12 — “And change is really happening.”
Finn and Artie (Kevin McHale) high-five in the car shop. Brody and Rachel dance together — thank goodness! Maybe there’s still hope for them after all. And now it’s time for another Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) tirade. “If bloaty the gravy clown is allowed to take over glee club, it’s OVER!”

00:17 — Blaine is playing Teen Angel! Swoon.
Oh, Sugar (Vanessa Lengies). Blaine (Darren Criss) is serenading you right now. You have no idea how much we envy your life. That “Beauty School Dropout” performance is going to be epic.

00:18 — And now it’s time for “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee.”
Kitty (Becca Tobin) is singing, and she seems to be turning the mocking of Marley’s character into a vicious personal attack. “Are you making fun of me, Kitty?” Basically, it sounds like the sleepover from hell. Stay strong, Marley. Stay strong.

00:22 — Rachel’s back at McKinley!
That’s definitely a high school hallway she’s standing in. A reunion with her ex, Finn, can’t be far away. And from what Ryan Murphy’s been teasing, it sounds like there is some pretty intense discussions in store for these two during the episode.

00:24 — Now it’s Will’s time to say goodbye.
He’s off for his new life in Washington, D.C... Temporarily, at least. “I love you guys, and I’m really going to miss you.” Okay, well, don’t mind us. We’ll just be sitting over here in the corner. Sobbing.
