Michaela Paige on the Shocking Results Show: “I Was About Ready to Throw Up on Stage” — Exclusive
The Voice Season 3 is really heating up. During last night’s live elimination show, eight hopefuls were sent packing, with some departures more shocking than others.
Team Blake’s mohawked rocker Michaela Paige was among the surprised contestants, doubtful that she would make it this far into the competition. When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with her on the red carpet after the show, she said being in the Top 12 is “unbelievable,” claiming, “I never expected to get this far.”
In fact, Michaela was so doubtful that she would move on that she even prepared an exit speech as she stood on stage with the bottom 3!
“I was about ready to throw up on stage,” she admitted. “I mean, I’m standing there on the verge of going home going, ‘What am I going to say to Blake before I leave? What am I going to do tomorrow? I have to catch a plane to go home,’ and then Blake saved me and I never expected it.”
Blake is the driving force behind each decision she makes, and she’s thankful that he taught her to be confident and stay true to herself, but another coach also helped push her along.
“Adam [Levine] told me that my [knockout] performance was a little bit more flawed than he’d want it to be, and that really gave me the kick in the butt that I needed to up my performance and go out there and perform at the top of my game every time I get out there,” she spilled. “Without that, I don’t think I’d be here right now.”
With that mindset, Michaela is planning to make some changes in her performances moving forward, hopeful to move on to the Top 4, and potentially win The Voice Season 3!
“Going forward, I’ve just got to step up my game. My next performance, I am showing America who I am,” she said. “I’ve given them different things each week, but I’m ready to really show them who I am as an artist, as a person, and I only hope that America keeps me in this competition.”
