Leah Messer Opens Up About Divorcing Corey Simms: “There Was Still Feelings Between the Two of Us”
Truth bomb: we spent most of Teen Mom 2's season premiere crying into a camouflage hat and Sharpie-tatting "Leah + Corey 4EVA" on our stomachs. Watching this once-happy couple go through a divorce was truly painful, especially when Corey showed up at Baby Ali's doctor's appointment and commenced the most awkward five minutes in television history.
"I was surprised because when we were together he never showed up to the appointments, because he couldn't take off for work," Leah tells Teen Mom Maci Bookout during the Teen Mom 2 After Show. "It bothered me that when we're split up, it's more of like a 'I'm there because of the custody issues.'"
So, why were things so epically awkward between Leah and her man? "I guess there was still feelings there," she explains. "There was still feelings between the two of us. We have these two beautiful little girls together, and it was just hard to be in the same room as each other, especially after the divorce and everything that we had gone through."
Clearly, Leah wanted to get back together with Corey but he straight up refused her offer to go to marriage counseling. "I was hoping that maybe we could reconcile, and they would show us both of our faults," Leah says. "Things that I did wrong in our relationship, and things that he did wrong."
