Department Store Hires 4-Year-Old Model With Down Syndrome After “Overwhelming” Facebook Support
We’ve got a serious case of heartswell brought on by a serious case of stereotype smashing: Meet adorable 4-year-old model with Down Syndrome, Seb White!
British department store Marks & Spencers hired Seb as part of its massive holiday ad campaign, reports Huffington Post. The best part? Seb isn’t spotlighted as different in the ads — he’s just hanging out and having fun in a big group of kids. We love it!
Seb got the modeling gig thanks to his Mom, Caroline, who posted Seb’s picture on Marks & Spencer's Facebook page asking if they’d be interested in using the charismatic blonde boy as a model. Marks & Spencer executive director Steve Sharp admits, “Our initial involvement with Seb was due to the overwhelming response to Caroline’s post on our Facebook page,” then adds, “However, he won his place in our TV ad thanks to the natural charm and magical personality he showed on set at our magazine shoot."
Caroline is over the moon at the impact her son has made. “If Seb appearing in a TV campaign raises awareness of Down's, challenges stereotypes and helps other parents feel better about having a child with it, I will be very happy,” she tells The Daily Mail.
