The Voice’s Cody Belew Fights to Prove Himself: “I Can Hang With the Big Dogs”

Enthusiastic and energetic contestant Cody Belew shocked America and his coach Cee Lo Green when he out-performed fan favorite Avery Wilson in the knockout rounds on The Voice Season 3.

And the upbeat singer hasn’t stopped there. In last night’s live show, he rocked the stage with a Tina Turner classic, and that’s only the beginning.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the country boy on the red carpet and he talked about his plans to win over America.

Wetpaint Entertainment: What did you think of your performance? How do you think it went?

Cody Belew: I need to watch back my performance and really study it. But just in the moment, I really felt like I nailed it. The things that I wanted to accomplish, I accomplished.

Have you given any thought to your next performance? What are you hoping to show America on this season?

I am an artist who has not really given away everything at the beginning. I'm layering it and that's by design. Next round I've requested an even bigger, more epic song just because I keep wanting to prove to America that I can hang with the big dogs. I'm a fun guy, but I can also bring it.

Are there things you need to work on going into the next show?

I do, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It leaves room for surprise, for improvement.

What do you hope to accomplish from your stint on The Voice?

Winning is top notch. Recording contract is second. World tour is third. Those are my three bucket list goals for the next five year.
