The Voice’s Terry McDermott Talks Song Choice Strategy, Teases His Next Live Show Performance

Scottish rocker Terry McDermott has been taking The Voice Season 3 by storm, and last night’s live show performance of Boston’s “More Than a Feeling” was his most challenging song choice to date.

While the Team Blake contestant is known for choosing classic rock songs, that might all change in the next round. We caught up with Terry on the red carpet after the Nov. 12 show, and he had plenty of ideas to barrel him into the next round of the competition.

“I've spoken to Blake about [my next performance]. It started off with some really good ideas and the ideas just mounted and now we've got a pile of great songs,” he spilled. “There's just so much material there. It's going to probably be in the same ballpark.”

And that ballpark is, of course, rockin’ tunes. After tackling “More Than a Feeling,” Terry is even more confident about his future on the show.

“That song was deliberately difficult, and the falsetto of the song is the key part. If you over blow it, you kill the song. If you underplay it, you don't have your note,” he explained. “I've been going over that a few times in my head, to say the least, and I feel like I got it.”

We’re looking forward to Terry’s next performance — that is, if he makes it through tonight’s live elimination show! Do you think he has what it takes to win The Voice? Weigh in below.
