Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry is shining like a bright gold star so far at NYADA on Glee, but is she using her own college experience to inform her performance?
Well, not so much. Lea has been performing on Broadway since she was a wee lass and so her school schedule has been a little wack her whole life. She variously attended public and private schools, was homeschooled for one year, and had tons of performing arts training.
As for college? Lea was accepted into the prestigious CAP21 (Collaborative Arts Project) program at NYU’s Tisch School of Arts, but never attended.
In 2006, when she was starring in Spring Awakening, Lea said “Something kept keeping me from going — I kept booking jobs, and I never really felt that it was absent in my life. I never felt that need. Theatre just fills me up so much. I think that college is so important, [but] it will always be there. Right now, I'm just so happy where I am, I could never imagine being anywhere else.”
Between her struggles with dance teachers and co-ed mingling, we’d say Lea’s getting a higher education on Glee Season 4.
