The Voice’s Christina Milian Talks Sylvia Yacoub: “She Hit Notes Celine Dion Doesn’t”

Though Team Christina’s Sylvia Yacoub impressed the judges and America with her piano-driven rendition of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” two weeks ago on The Voice Season 3, she didn’t stop there.

In Monday night’s live performance show, the Egyptian singer tackled Celine Dion’s biggest hit, “My Heart Will Go On.” Though her rendition was a tad shaky (our’s would be too!), the coaches applauded Sylvia’s bravery in taking on such a classic tune.

And they weren’t the only ones impressed by Sylvia’s performance. America voted Sylvia through to the Top 10 last night.

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with social media correspondent, Christina Milian, on the red carpet after last night’s live results show, she praised the contestant’s version.

“You know, I was really ‘Oh my God’ about Sylvia’s performance last night with Celine Dion because that’s such a huge record to perform,” she told us. “And everyone that I [have] ever know that performs that record performs it exactly like Celine Dion, but she really made it her own and she really went over the top. She hit notes that Celine Dion doesn’t do, so I was pleasantly surprised by that.”

High praise from a seasoned songstress! What did you think of Sylvia’s performance in Monday night’s show? Tell us below!
