Adam Levine Claims “I’m Not a Reality-TV Star,” Blasts the Genre

Even though The Voice is a reality television singing competition, don’t get it twisted — Adam Levine is not a reality TV star.

In his Nov. 19 cover interview with TV Guide Magazine, he shared quite a rant about the genre.

“I'm not a reality-TV star,” Adam exclaimed. “The Voice isn't a show about me going shopping or complaining about stupid f—ing mundane s— that no one should ever complain about: ‘Poor rich me and my caviar problems.’ That drives me crazy. I hate it! There's a purpose to this show.”

That “purpose” doesn’t just help the contestants on his team, though — it once stopped him from leaving the music industry.

“I'd started to become cynical and jaded about the music industry and all the things that I had loved. This show kind of reinvigorated me,” he admitted about how the show affected him. “It's led to a renaissance, not just in my career but in my life.”

And will the rocker be back on the show after Season 4? “I legitimately do not know,” was his only response.
