Dancing With The Stars

DWTS All-Stars Semifinals Sneak Peek: Who Is Dancing What?

This is it — Week 9 of Dancing With the Stars All-Stars. The finale will be here before you know it! On Monday’s Semifinals Performance Show, the final five couples have two full dances to perform — one themed around Michael Jackson's Bad album, and one funky new dance style mixed with an even funkier theme, assigned during the Week 8 Results Show.

The couples talked to On the Red Carpet about the unexpected style/theme twist, but they didn’t say anything about the MJ theme, although a few stars tweeted about their dance styles. Read on for their plans.

Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani — “Caveman” Hustle and Argentine Tango
"The Hustle I'm vaguely familiar with," Melissa told OTRC, "then you add Caveman theme on top of that. I don't know what our music is, I hope it goes together. Actually, next week I think for everybody could potentially be a hot mess, with some of the mixtures that we got." Tony joked that he's going to wear a humungous diaper as a caveman.

Melissa later tweeted, "Phewww...Already been a long week. Off to B-E-D!!! Resting up to attack the Caveman Hustle and Argentine Tango again tomorrow...." So it sounds like their Michael Jackson dance is the Argentine Tango.

Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough — “Knight Rider” Bhangra and ??
Derek wasn’t initially familiar with his assigned dance style — an Indian folk dance — but he told On the Red Carpet he's wrapped his head around what Bhangra is. But then he remembered they have to add in the Knight Rider theme! Shawn was confused by both the style and the theme. "I have no idea what Bhangra is and, I hate to admit, I don't know what Knight Rider is either. So I'm a little lost at the moment." Poor David Hasselhoff!

By the way, Derek said he loves these challenges. Being assigned themes like this takes the pressure off him to come up with something out of thin air. This helps him just blame the producers if things go wrong. It wasn't his idea! They haven’t shared their Michael Jackson dance information yet, so we’ll have to look out for that.

Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff — “Big Top” Jazz and Rumba
Karina tried to break down how she and Apolo might apply their style/theme. "Well, Big Top is a circus. Jazz is Jazz. Circus is funny and scary, and Jazz is smooth and sexy. I'll be smooth and sexy, he'll be funny and scary!" Apolo also tweeted, " Big top!!!"

Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke — “Espionage” Lindy Hop and Tango
What does their theme mean? "We're going to be two spies doing a Lindy Hop together?" Cheryl guessed. "Yeah, the producers were definitely smoking something." Cheryl also tweeted, "Just finished our first rehearsal for the semi finals now off to Dallas!!! Two full dances this week. Tango and Lindy!! Lots of work to do!!"

Kelly Monaco & Valentin Chmerkovskiy — “Surfer” Flamenco and ??
"I love Flamenco, Val said. "It's very Paso Doble." How will they pair that with the sun and sand of the surfer theme? They didn't know yet, but that's the fun part. Val admitted that he's a little nervous, but he's been nervous so many times this season on Tuesdays, when they get the song and dance, and Wednesdays are hard, but they are here for a reason. They'll make it work!

Unfortunately, they have yet to share anything about their second dance, but we’ll keep an eye out for that info. Or you can share it, if you see it first!
