Glee’s Amber Riley Makes Her NYC Stage Debut — Which Classic Songs Did She Sing?
Glee’s Amber Riley (Mercedes) made her NYC stage debut on November 14, and it sounds like her performance was a huge success! Then again, would you expect anything less from this talented lady?
Amber stars in Cotton Club Revue, a musical revue featuring a selection of classic jazz and swings standards at the New York City Center. If you want to see Amber in person, you’d better hurry, as this is one of only seven performances of the show that she’ll be appearing in.
Amber was as flawless as always in the show, as Entertainment Weekly says she gave a “note-perfect” performance of “Stormy Weather.” Amber was dressed in a sequined, black and white gown and “displayed no signs of nerves,” says EW. She also performs the classics “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” and “On the Sunny Side of the Street.”
She also received support from her Glee co-stars. Last night, Alex Newell (Unique) tweeted:
Let's all say Break a leg and Happy Opening night to @msamberpriley Ahhhh soo exciting happy opening Girl!!!
We’re so happy for Amber! Then again, as much as we love hearing about her getting other gigs, we want to continue seeing her on Glee, too. Her one appearance so far this season just hasn’t been enough!
