He might be able to speak to dogs in a way that no one else can, but Cesar Millan hasn’t always been great at communicating with others. According to People, the former host of Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan is opening up about his 2010 suicide attempt, when he overdosed after the death of his dog, Daddy, and his split from his wife.
“I have always been honest with my fans, which means being open about any struggles I have had along the way. It was important for me to explain all the aspects that have led to my new chapter. Although it was a dark moment for me, it showed me that I still needed to be here and I have a lot more to do,” Cesar said.
Cesar battled through his depression with work and exercise and now hopes that his story can help others.
“It made me become aware of the pain I needed to deal with and to start the healing process. I am sharing this in my bio to help others who might feel like I did at that point,” he said.
If you want to know more, you can catch Cesar’s documentary, Cesar Millan: The Real Story, on Nat Geo Wild on Nov. 25.
