Style For Dummies — How To Do Cozy-Chic Right!

As temperatures plummet, it’s all too tempting to hide our post-summer bods under baggy sweats and shapeless coats, but do we really want to look like we gained weight overnight? Um, NO to the WAY! After all, there is a way to make cozy look cozy-chic. So instead of throwing on everything in our closets-at once-we’re taking a cue from InStyle on how to look super stylish as we brave the winter weather.

Cuffed Boyfriend Jeans
Thanks to the celebrity fans like Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham (we have proof she traded haute couture for denim at least once), we can relax when it’s freezing in boyfriend jeans and still look hot! Wear them with your warmest grandpa cardigan and cute booties. Style tip: Don’t forget to cuff jeans for a slimmer, feminine look that will balance out the bulk of the sweater.

Find Your Balance
We’re all about fighting off frostbite with knit scarves, hats and crazy-cozy coats, but a top-heavy look requires a slimmer bottom half to keep warm and chic from looking too frumpy. Style tip: Add sleek accessories in patent leather for a modern take on winter style.

Layer Thin Knits
Don’t bother trying to pick just one favorite sweater…wear a few at once! Layering thin knits can be adorable as long as sweaters truly are thin. Style tip: Choosing chunky knits will just make you look chunky…probably not the look you’re going for?

Try A Fedora
Trade a boho wool beanie or fur trapper hat for a sleek and stylish fedora. A funky fedora will keep us warm when we’re ready for a change from the way-too-matchy-matchy knit scarf, glove, and hat set. Style tip: Try a fedora that has a little splash of color to beat the winter blahs.
