Why Is Usher Called Usher? You Asked, We Answered!

Not only is Usher a hit recording artist, but he’s one of the many pop and R&B singers who currently goes by one name. So how did Usher become, well, Usher?

While some singers choose stage names, like P!nk (aka Alecia Moore), Usher was born Usher Raymond IV. When Usher started his musical career, with the group NuBeginnings he went by his full name.

As the years went on and Usher’s musical career took off, he starting going by just “Usher.” The R&B singer with hits like “U Got It Bad” and “Yeah!” never commented on the name shortening, but we can only assume the change was made to make Usher a more memorable contender in the music industry.

Now Usher’s preparing for his biggest career move yet coaching on Season 4 of The Voice. The coaches are already filming next season’s blind auditions (even though Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are also doing this season’s live shows), and Usher is sure to be a great replacement for Cee Lo Green.

Do you think Usher will make a good coach on The Voice? Weigh in below!
