The Walking Dead Season 3 Spoilers: Will Glenn Or Maggie Die? They Won’t Get Out of Woodbury “Unscathed”

Blame Merle! He fired the first shot when it comes to Woodbury vs. The Prison on The Walking Dead Season 3.

On Episode 6, “Hounded,” Merle (Michael Rooker) came face-to-face with Glenn (Steven Yeun), one of the members of his Atlanta group. They left him chained on the roof back on Season 1. Instead of having a warm and fuzzy reunion, Merle demanded to be taken to his brother, Daryl (Norman Reedus). Glenn was more cautious, and said he’d go tell Daryl to meet Merle there. Merle wasn’t having it, choosing to abduct Glenn and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and taking them to Woodbury.

A preview for the November 25, Episode 7, "When the Dead Come Knocking," shows Merle roughing up poor Glenn to get more information. (Watch that video below.)

Walking Dead executive producer Robert Kirkman talked to The Hollywood Reporter about the growing battle between the prison group and the Woodbury group.

“To a certain extent, Woodbury has already gone on offensive with Merle taking Maggie and Glenn so anything the people at the prison would do would be a reaction to that,” Kirkman said. “There's definitely a huge confrontation on the horizon and it's only a matter of time before these two groups are facing each other head to head.”

Heck yeah! Will we see that before the midseason finale, Episode 8, which airs on December 2? Kirkman just laughed. “I know there's the midseason finale looming on the horizon and you've got to do something big for that.” SO maybe yes, maybe no. We may have to wait for February for a big confrontation, but Kirkman hinted to some dark times ahead for lovebirds Glenn and Maggie.

“They're being taken there as prisoners and we saw how the Governor dealt with the National Guardsmen and the pilot they had in their custody,” Kirkman said. “It could be two more heads for his fish tanks or something else. What they do with them once they get back to Woodbury is a mystery for now but I don't think it's going to be a pleasant visit for either of them. They're definitely not going to get out of this unscathed. Every character has grown to think of those people as their family; they would do anything to protect their family and that's going to put them in some pretty uncomfortable situations moving forward.”

That sounds scary. We know more deaths are coming — we read teases about them every week. Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, has said there will be major losses coming up as “huge lives” are thrown into question. Maybe she was referring to her own character and Glenn? Or maybe that "unscathed" bit was a hint to a very different, but still very dark, fate?
