Vampire Diaries Season 4 Spoilers: A List of New and Returning Characters

In light of hologram-Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) recent appearance, we rounded up a list of other familiar faces that just might show up again in Vampire Diaries Season 4. When Julie Plec spoke to reporters after a recent episode viewing, she was asked who we’ll see again. Check it out!

Will we see [Original witch] Esther?
Julie Plec: Esther. I don't know about her. We'll have to see if we see her again.

Any hopes of seeing Kol again at any point?
JP: I do believe that Nathan [Buzolic] has been spotted tweeting from Atlanta recently, yes.

You're talking about Elijah [Daniel Gillies] and Kol. Does that mean there's a flashback coming, or a reunion coming?
JP: I would say neither. I would say real time, but I wouldn't attach the word reunion to it.

Will we be seeing Bonnie's family members?
JP: Yes, we will. I think we get our first sort of meet of her dad after the holidays.

Here’s the rest of the list:
Lexi is shown in flashbacks in Season 4, Episode 8, “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street.”

In the same episode, an old flame of Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) named Charlotte will show up in the past... but will we see her in the present, too?

Back in Mystic Falls, we’ll meet Kimberly, another of Klaus’s (Joseph Morgan) hybrids, who has a dangerous confrontation with Tyler (Michael Trevino).

Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) magic mentor, Professor Shane (David Alpay), will have a run-in with someone from his past in Season 4, Episode 13.

In the same episode we meet Shane's friend Caitlin, another member of the Five named Vaughn comes to Mystic Falls.
