What Are Critics Saying About Phillip Phillips’s Debut Album?

The World From the Side of the Moon, the debut album from Phillip Phillips, dropped yesterday after months of anticipation.

His first single, “Home,” has already been certified double platinum, and we’ve enjoyed hearing snippets of the American Idol champ’s record.

But what do the critics think of P2’s full length effort?

Overall, the reviews for the album have been pretty positive, with some of them positively glowing!

Idolator gave the album four out of five stars and commended Phillip’s “solid musicianship,” while Entertainment Weekly gave it a “B” grade, calling it “the most relevant debut album the Idol machine has cranked out in years.”

HitFix also gave Phillip’s album a “B” and praised his “natural, warm growl.”

Rolling Stone, on the other hand, slapped the record with two and a half stars out of five, calling Phillip’s music “redundant” and questioning the originality of his style.

Well, you can’t win them all. But from the sound of it, Phillip’s career is off to a pretty good start!
