How Did Cynthia Bailey Become a Model? The Real Housewife of Atlanta Tells All!
Since Cynthia Bailey joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta two seasons ago, she became the token model of the group. But with the addition of Kenya Moore this season, Cynthia was no longer the only beauty in the building.
In her latest BravoTV.com blog, Cynthia reccounts how she was “discovered” as a model after being named homecomnig queen at her high school, the first African-American to hold that title.
She dishes, “As my school's queen, I was invited to compete in a ‘homecoming queen pageant’ against other homecoming queens in the South. This was my first pageant ever, and I was super excited to take home the crown! I was still on cloud 9 from being my school's first African American homecoming queen, and almost demanded a recount when I did not even place!”
But Cynthia’s failure at the homecoming queen pageant turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
“Turns out that one of the judges for the pageant was a model scout for Wilhelmina Models in New York City. I was the only girl that was offered a 5-year modeling contract! I didn't take home a shiny trophy that day, but I was definitely the winner!”
You can say that again, Cynthia.
