Cher Lloyd can credit The X Factor U.K. edition for her worldwide fame and abundant radio time, but the British singer wasn’t actually the last one standing on the show.
It turns out the “Want U Back” singer came in fourth when she appeared on the show in 2010, not that she’s too torn up about it.
“It’s a blessing that I didn’t win,” she told MTV. “I mean, a girl like me was never going to win anyway, but I’m glad I came fourth because otherwise I wouldn’t be doing all this now.”
It seems that Cher credits not winning the show with being able to express herself more freely as an artist.
“I don’t have no one holding me back. No one ever will. I’m allowed to do whatever I want creatively,” she added. “I might have come from a reality TV show, but I’m not a puppet and I won’t be treated like one. You can’t put me in a box.”
