Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Henry Cavill Address Rumors He’ll Play Christian
Until someone is officially cast in the first Fifty Shades of Grey film, the door is open for any young Hollywood actor or actress to be a contender to play Christian or Ana. It’s like a giant, sexy murder mystery where everyone is a suspect.
Our hearts are always with The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder, although we can see arguments for other potential Christian Greys, including The Tudors alum Henry Cavill, who has been featured in a few Fifty Shades fan videos. Those fan teasers could be considered unofficial acting reels, potentially giving cast agents ideas on how the hunks would look opposite various starlets.
Henry’s Superman film, Man of Steel, comes out in June, and could potentially make him a big international star. He’s already talking in a careful media-trained way, as evidenced in his new Details interview, when they asked about rumors he could be cast as Christian Grey.
"Whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made," Henry said. "It would be a very different kind of thing than Man of Steel." See what he did there? Confirmed nothing. Added nothing of his opinion on the matter. Turned the conversation back to what he wanted to promote, the Superman movie. Should’ve been a lawyer!
We all have our favorites when it comes to Fifty Shades casting, but would you be able to live with the idea of Henry playing Christian, if it came to that? Or Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Alexander Skarsgard or someone else? Would you skip the movie entirely if your favorite candidate was not cast? Just curious...
