The Voice Season 3: Top 3 Favorite Live Show Performances From the Top 8 (VIDEOS)
We’re one week away from the semi-finals, Voice fans, and with that comes an even higher caliber of live show performances. It was hard to top last week’s killer live show episode, but the Top 8 tried their best.
In today’s Top 3, we have some new faces. Tell us if you agree below!
3) Melanie Martinez Sings “Too Close” by Alex Clare
This youngster with the two-toned ‘do typically puts us to sleep, but her heartfelt rendition of Alex Clare’s “Too Close” really tugged at our heartstrings last night. Poor girl was kicked to the curb by her high school beau, and still hadn’t fully recovered. So what better therapy than national TV? We were digging it all, from the eclectic set to the tears in little Melanie’s eyes as Carson Daly tried to make awkward post-breakup jokes.
2) Cassadee Pope Sings “Are You Happy Now?” by Michelle Branch This punk princess knew it would be nearly impossible to top last week’s emotional performance of Miranda Lambert’s “Over You,” so she returned to her rocker roots. Sure, it’s a comfort zone, but Cassadee does it so well that we can’t complain. This girl has proven she can cross genres and belt out some high notes like it’s her job ... and, well, it is!
1) Nicholas David Sings “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye We’ve kept Nicholas off this list for a while, because in the scope of this competition, he seems like a whole different entity. He’s not a starry-eyed teen looking to make it big or dreamboat trying to seduce America, but if we’re being entirely honest, he was seducing us last night with his smooth rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” From the saxophone to the doo-wop group to his pigtail braids, we were digging it.
