Steven Tyler Says He’s Not a Racist, Apologizes to Nicki Minaj

Former American Idol judge Steven Tyler puts his foot in his mouth on a fairly regular basis, but this time he’s apologizing for some barbs aimed at new Idol judge Nicki Minaj.

The Aerosmith frontman ruffled Nicki’s feathers when he prematurely criticized her judging talents, saying that the rapper would likely send someone like Bob Dylan “to the cornfield” if he auditioned for the show. In response, she went on a Twitter rant and accused Steven of being racist.

Appearing on Canadian talk show eTalk, Steven apologized to Nicki for his comments but insisted that there was no racial motive behind what he said.

“I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist,” he said. “I don’t know where she got that out of me saying I’m not sure how she would’ve judged Bob Dylan.”

Steven added, “Maybe I spoke out of turn, but a racist I’m not, Nicki.”

Only time will tell whether the curvaceous diva will accept his apology.
