During Cee Lo Green’s hiatus from The Voice next season, he is developing a semi-autobiographical NBC comedy, but that might not be his only new show.
The Lady Killer doesn’t just want to work on scripted TV — he recently “pitched” a Voice spin-off called The Total Package, too!
Cee Lo suggested this new show to The Hollywood Reporter — and not to network executives — on the red carpet after the Nov. 27 live results show.
“You know what they need to do? They need to do a Cee Lo Green spinoff of The Voice called The Total Package because, ultimately, that’s what it boils down to,” he told THR. “People want to see a complete thought. Concept, creativity, charisma, character, charm, conviction, connection — you’ve got to have all of it.”
This conversation stemmed from his creative contestant Cody Belew’s elimination that night. Cee Lo was clearly upset, refusing to comment because he was “a little angered” and said his “emotional state of being” would impair his judgement. He did, however, rave about his entire team — and himself — noting that his contestants have made it the farthest thus far.
“People need to remember this: Nobody turned around for Amanda Brown but me. Nobody turned around for Cody Belew but me. Nobody turned around for Nicholas [David] but me,” he pointed out. “So, four of my people were in the remaining. What does that say about Cee Lo Green?”
We think it says that he could really win this thing. What do you think, Voice fans? Could Cee Lo win this season, and should he have his own show? Tell us below!
