Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: Will Jackson and April Get Back Together?

April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) have been developing a beautiful relationship on Grey's Anatomy Season 9, but Season 9, Episode 7: "I Was Made for Lovin’ You" seemed to put an end to that, when Jackson called things off after April expressed a bit too much relief that she wouldn't "have" to marry him after a pregnancy scare turned out to be nothing.

Is there a future for this couple? Sarah Drew and Jesse Williams recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about what we can expect for their characters going forward.

Is there hope for the couple? Jesse says there's "definitely" hope for Jackson and April in the long term. Sarah Drew also reminds fans that this relationship did already have a base of "deep friendship," and explains that "they're in two very different places ... So sadly, they must take a pause." But a pause doesn't need to last forever, right?

Could they be "made for each other"? Sarah says she "hopes" Jackson and April are made for each other, especially because they have a "significant history" and deep trust already. While Jesse says he doesn't know if they are meant to be, he agrees that "you see a different side of them when they're together and we're seeing a different light in their eyes, a different kind of compassion in their voice, a different understanding, a different honesty as a couple."

What about other love interests? Spoilers have suggested Jackson will sleep with someone else when the show returns this winter, and Jesse says there's "a lot of potential" for Jackson and April to have other love interests. Jesse points out that between losing Mark (Eric Dane) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) and dealing with Richard's (James Pickens Jr.) burgeoning relationship with his mother, Jackson is "in a vulnerable position to be more reactionary and in the moment, which makes him more susceptible to acting out. Maybe just not overthinking it anymore."

Sarah, meanwhile, put a more positive spin on the idea of new love interests.

"We've got to pull them apart and have them see what else is out there and how that makes them feel toward one another and see what, if anything, will draw them back together."
