The Vampire Diaries

Did Stefan Go Too Far “Helping” Jeremy in Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 7: “My Brother’s Keeper”?

After a rough break up, we like to watch Shakespeare in Love while drinking some wine and doing some damage to a classified amount of cookie dough ice cream. It’s called “coping.” Stefan (Paul Wesley) used Caroline’s (Candice Accola) technique of sublimation to get even more buff (do vampires even have to work out?) and try to find a cure.

That entailed kidnapping an unrepentant murderer, feeding the dude his blood, and forcing Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to kill the newly turned vampire. This was all a tad out of character for Mr. Nice Guy, but we suppose he was grieving for his lost girlfriend, who was about to go off and have sex with his brother.

There was little part on anyone’s thought about what would happen to Jeremy if he became a hunter when Elena (Nina Dobrev) was hallucinating on the bridge. Though Damon (Ian Somerhalder) said they didn’t want Jer going all “Connor 2.0,” Stefan ignored the warning and sacrificed a good deal of the little Gilbert’s affection for his sister. The consequences were disastrous.

It seemed like Stefan was prowling the halls of Mystic Falls’ hospital looking for a terminal victim. Instead of curing them with his blood, Stefan wanted to offer Jeremy a chance to kill a vampire who was living on borrowed time anyway. Then he found the murderer, and Stefan seemed to absolve himself of any immorality.

Is Stefan Mystic Falls’ answer to Dexter Morgan, or should he have sublimated with a nice vintage from the Salvatore cellar instead?

Poor Jeremy.

Poor random murderer.
