Game of Thrones Season 3 Spoilers: “The Game’s Been Upped, There’s So Much More Danger”

Game of Thrones Season 3 could be the best season yet — not just from hype, but from the source material. The new season, which starts March 31, 2013 on HBO, will include roughly the first half of George R.R. Martin’s third book, A Storm of Swords, which is a definite fan favorite of the series so far.

A new Season 3 behind-the-scenes production video (watch below) showed off some of the new sets and locations, with glimpses of new cast members, including Ciaran Hinds as Mance Rayder, aka the King-Beyond-the-Wall.

"This is the season that Dan and I have been anticipating from the very beginning," GoT executive producer David Benioff said in the video.

"We always envisioned Season 3 as the place we needed to get," added executive producer D.B. Weiss. “If we made it to Season 3, and could do Season 3 right, then it would be all worthwhile."

As Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) put it, "The game's been upped. There's so much more danger, there's so much more risk."

Watch the video and get yourself even more pumped to head back to Westeros.
