Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Channing Tatum WON’T Be Playing Christian Grey
Channing Tatum's recent announcement that he's taking an extended break from acting has us fit to be tied — for a variety of reasons.
The hotter-than-hot Magic Mike star had been mentioned in various circles as a strong contender for the role of Christian Grey in the forthcoming Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation, but it looks like he has taken his hat out of the ring.
Channing says he plans to "shut things down" acting-wise in 2013 for an indefinite amount of time, in order to concentrate on producing and directing. This would seemingly mean he wouldn't be available for Fifty Shades, as the movie is presumed to begin production next year, pending approval of a script.
Channing was never the top choice on most fan polls, as some readers find him to be a tad too sweet to play Christian. Still, we're never ones to say no to Channing in any movie, regardless of the role. Channing had previously said that he would only consider playing Christian if his wife, Jenna Dewan, played Anastasia.
Let's just hope Channing won't be gone from acting too long and will "step up" to another role soon.
