Get Gorgeous Beachy Waves: Try This Curling Wand for the Hair-Styling Challenged
We at Loop du Loop are always sniffing out the best of the best when it comes to beauty products. There are no styling tools we won’t try; no lipstick shades we won’t attempt to pull off; no hair colors too bold. So when this writer discovered a particular curling wand — in pearly pink no less — that transformed my straight, usually curl-hating hair into a bloom of beachy waves à la Kate Hudson, I had to share.
The Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand has a tapered, pastel-colored barrel that's coated in ceramic and crushed pearls, which supposedly helps hold your curls longer. The heat settings can be adjusted anywhere between 270 and 410 degrees Fahrenheit. And the price: After coming across several much more expensive options around town, I scored the T-Studio wand at Target for $24.
Full disclosure: I purchased this curling wand to use on my hair for my beach wedding. I have zero ability to do anything remotely fetching to my hair ever, and had no professional help. (And no, Remington is not paying me to sing its praises!) After two practice rounds of wrapping large sections of hair around the barrel and getting mixed results, the technique was shifted to smaller (half-inch- or inch-wide) sections of hair with much more beach-worthy success. The T-Studio wand also comes with a black glove to protect your hand while you’re wrapping hair around the barrel. (Insider tip: Use the glove. Really.) The end wedding-day results were that of tousled curls that managed to withstand fairly windy conditions on the beach. Regular clamp-style curling irons, hot rollers, and pro tips like pinning up little mini-swirls of damp hair all around your head and letting dry have never managed to do the trick like this tool — or at least produce a curl that lasts longer than ten minutes — for this girl. If you're in the market for a new curling wand, give it a try!
