The Walking Dead Season 3 Spoilers on Episode 9: Tyreese’s Group Plans Attack on Prison
"A little kid, a woman, a girl, and a one-legged old man." It sounds like the start to a joke, but it's a newbie's argument for why it would be easy to take over the prison. Good luck with that!
In a sneak peek of The Walking Dead Season 3, Episode 9, "The Suicide King" (watch below), we see Tyreese (Chad Coleman), his sister Sasha, and the two other new guys, Allen (light hair) and Ben (dark hair), argue about what to do with the original prison group. Tyreese says, "These are good people," and his sister agrees that the two other guys should "shut up" about taking over, since they are just there to bury Donna, the woman who was with them who died on Episode 8. But these two guys — they have ideas. They think it would be a "golden opportunity," and if they "do it quick," the prison group wouldn't know what hit them. Clearly they have never seen Carl (Chandler Riggs) in action. Mini Rick means business. And they forgot about Axel (Lew Temple) in their assessment. Axel has not really been battle-tested, but Mustache Man is obviously a survivor.
Who are the new group members? Tyreese is a major character in the comics and he’s going to be a major character on the TV show as well. As executive producer/comic book writer Robert Kirkman toldThe Hollywood Reporter of the others, "Sasha is his sister, who is a new character. She's not his sister in the comic book. And then we have Allen, and Donna and Ben, who are all from the comic book series. It's a few cool additions from the comic book coming into the show. Although, Donna didn't last very long."
In the comics, Allen is Donna's husband, and the father of their twins, Billy and Ben. On the TV show, there is no Billy. It remains to be seen how they will fit into the existing dynamic, but everyone in this group seems to be strong and outspoken, so Tyreese may need to play mediator when Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and, hopefully, Daryl (Norman Reedus) return to the prison. They should all band together, 'cause The Governor (David Morrissey) and Team Woodbury are probably coming soon. The prison may not be the safe zone these newbies had in mind after all, but if they want to stay, they should fight for it — just be sure to fight the right people!
