The X Factor’s Carly Rose Sonenclar: Is a Dance Number Next? Exclusive

Carly Rose Sonenclar stuns X Factor fans week after week with her nearly-flawless renditions of popular songs, and the December 5 show was no different. Carly Rose’s unplugged cover of Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” and her fan-chosen “If I Were a Boy” by Beyonce earned her praise from all the judges — and huge roars from the crowd. Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the 13-year-old frontrunner after the show to talk about impressing the judges and where she’ll go from here.

Wetpaint: What did you think of your performances tonight?
I think they went well. I’m very happy with them.

Which one felt more right?
I can’t say. I’ll have to watch them back but I felt really great about them both.

What did you think about the fans’ choice?
I think they chose really well. I’m very happy with their choice.

When it comes to the judges, whose comments do you fear the most?
I don’t know. I never know what to say to that question. I think each of them have their nice side and each of them can be critical. And I think that’s good. I wouldn’t say one of them intimidates me most.

Do you think it matters what they think at this point? They’re competing against each other as well.
I think it definitely matters. But I think to some extent people have their own opinions. I don’t know… I think it does play a role in the voting.

Apart from tonight, is there a performance that’s felt most like you as an artist?
“Rolling in the Deep” or “It Will Rain.” They’re contemporary but we still made them my own style.

What about your dance numbers, when are we going to see those?
(Grimaces) I don’t know…

What’s that face for?
I mean, I think it could be cool if we made sure that the vocal was the main point of the performance.

It doesn’t seem like something you want to do.
I don’t know…It depends on how we went about it. I think if we did it in a clever way it could work but I feel like the performers with the dances on the show haven’t been getting great comments.

Who are you closest to at this point?

Who would be your support system if she went home?
CeCe is really great to me, she’s so nice. My parents would obviously help me. Fifth Harmony. We’re all close. But it still wouldn’t be the same.

So you and Diamond are the two musketeers?
