The X Factor’s Diamond White “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World”: Which Performance Was Better?
Diamond White blew the judges away the first time she stepped on the X Factor stage to audition in September. In a sea of mediocre Adele covers and songs that failed to show off the hopefuls’ voices, Diamond’s rendition of “It’s a Man’s (Man’s Man’s) World” brought the whole room to life and sent her through to Boot Camp.
On the December 5 show, Diamond once again sang the James Brown original, this time in a more stripped-down, but still powerful, form. Although some judges expressed their desire to hear her sing something different, we were thrilled with her performance. (We’re still unsure how this was as “unplugged” as others, like CeCe Frey’s “Edge of Glory,” but we’ll let that slide.)
So, which performance was truer or better for you: The first time we met Diamond and she sang the song with nerves exposed, or the more polished version she showed us in live shows week 5? Did her repetition of the song show how much she’s grown over the course of the show, or would a different choice have done that better? Hit the comments with all the feelings you feel.
