Glee Spoilers: The Future of Marley’s Eating Disorder — and Rivalry With Kitty
Things for Glee’s Marley (Melissa Benoist) have not been easy this year, but it sounds like her life may slowly be starting to get a little bit better.
Glee actress Melissa tells TV Guide that her character’s shocking Sectionals collapse did serve at least one important purpose. “I knew that something drastic needed to happen to knock some sense into Marley or to make her realize that what she was doing was extremely damaging to her psyche and to her physical well-being,” she explains.
As for Marley’s future, Melissa is optimistic. “It's not going to be easy, but she's on her way up.”
Kitty (Becca Tobin) has played a role in escalating Marley’s body-image issues, but it seems that the two girls might actually start to develop a real friendship. “It will be a slow process for them to gain trust, but luckily, there is some forgiveness and a breakthrough in a sense for the two of them,” she says.
We might also learn more about why Kitty is so crabby. “We keep saying that something had to have happened to Kitty for her to make the decisions that she has and say the things that she does,” Melissa says. “In this next episode, you'll see a softer side to her, and Becca does a wonderful job portraying that.”
Marley’s collapse has potentially jeopardized New Directions’ standing at Sectionals, so it’s understandable that a few of the members might be a bit steamed about the situation. “There are some kids in the glee club who are not too happy with her,” Melissa says.
One thing to look forward to is seeing Marley get some advice from the new director of the glee club. “In this next episode, Marley interacts quite a bit with Finn (Cory Monteith) because she really feels the need to show her devotion to glee club and they collaborate together,” she reveals.
Marley could use a few friends, so this is sounding like music to our ears. As long as the two don’t start dating, that is!
