Sire bonds are tricky little devils, aren’t they? Elena (Nina Dobrev) learns that her feelings for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) aren’t affected by the sire bond, but they are intensified by her vampirism. She confesses to her gal pals, “I think I’m falling in love with him.” But is she really?
Meanwhile, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon run into Charlotte, a blast from Damon’s romantic past and one of his sire bonds. Charlotte is going through the same intense “love” feelings for Damon that Elena is experiencing, but she’s been feeling them a lot longer. She spent 70 years counting bricks, waiting for her sexy sire to return. In the end, Damon decides to release Charlotte from her bond, ordering her to forget about him and move on.
Damon is supposed to do the same for Elena. He tells her, “I have to do the right thing by you.” But Elena isn’t so eager to be released. “Does this feel wrong?” she asks, putting her hand on his cheek. It doesn’t take much more than her touch for Damon to grow even more conflicted.
Though Damon promised Stefan he’d send Elena away, it doesn’t look like a promise he’s ready to keep. Elena seems pretty certain she’s in love with Damon, but Damon’s conflicted as to whether it’s her sire bond or true love. What do you guys think?
