Pregnant Kate Middleton Given $2,300 Baby Product Gift Basket and Other Publicity Goodies
Everyone wants a piece of the Duchess of Cambridge — photographers want to take photos of pregnant Kate Middleton, and baby product companies want their stuff to be shown in the photos.
According to TMZ, Kate has already been sent at least four gift baskets from U.S.-based baby product companies, and probably hundreds of other products from around the world. TMZ talked to a rep for Bel Bambini in Beverly Hills and they said they sent Kate a $2,300 gift basket which included a new Bugaboo Cameleon 3 stroller (worth $978), a Fendi layette set ($265), Dior Booties ($275) and a lot more.
Kate is a designer's dream and could get free clothes and anything else she wanted, with or without a baby in tow, just so the items could get extra publicity. But, in the past, Kate has insisted on paying full price for her clothes and instructed her staff to never allow her to get an endorsement discount. That led her to reportedly spend around $54,000 on high-end clothes in the first half of 2012.
But baby gifts? Maybe that's a different story. At this point, she’s probably too busy worrying about her health to care about baby product publicity. But she's probably going to get a lot more stuff than she needs, and she's not exactly suffering to begin with. Do you think she should keep the gifts or give some or all of them to charity?
