Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Will Matt Bomer Lose Out on Playing Christian Because He’s Too Old?
There aren't many times when the age of 35 is considered to be "too old," but this might be one of those times.
Apparently, rumors are starting to spread that 35-year-old Matt Bomer might be considered to be too old to play 27-year-old Christian Grey in the much-anticipated film version of Fifty Shades of Grey.
"Rumor has it that the producers will not give Bomer the titular role of Christian Grey, and it won't be because of Bomer's sexual orientation or even because he's recently fallen behind in the polls," according to Gather. "It will be because he's too old."
If you ask us, Matt looks still looks young enough to play the role, although it's true that he would be pushing 40 by the time the third film was ready to be filmed.
Matt is not the top choice of Wetpaint Entertainment readers to play Christian, but he's certainly up there. In our reader poll, Matt currently ranks fifth, with Ian Somerhalder well in the lead, and Ed Westwick in second place.
So what do you think — should Matt's age really be a dealbreaker? After all, Ian just turned 34 this week, and that doesn't seem to be an issue for anyone!
