Lost Monkey Roams Ikea Parking Lot In Tiny Shearling Coat, Goes Viral
Um, have you seen the photos of the monkey roaming an Ikea parking lot in Toronto?
According to CBC News, the story goes that Darwin, a 5-month old macaque monkey, was left in a car, secured in a crate while his owners shopped at Ikea. He somehow escaped from his crate and the car, when confused shoppers spotted him wandering the Ikea parking lot wearing a shearling coat and a diaper. Animal control was quickly called, and the monkey’s owners located.
Exotic pets, such as macaque are illegal to keep as pets in Canada, so the poor little guy is currently in custody with officials in Toronto. While Darwin’s fate looks to be an animal sanctuary, his adventure at Ikea spawned several hilarious memes and a fake Twitter account that has blazed across the internet.
