Singer Jenni Rivera Confirmed Dead After Mexican Plane Crash

Latin superstar Jenni Rivera has been confirmed dead in a plane crash in northern Mexico, the National Transportation Safety Board stated on December 10.

The plane's wreckage was discovered on Sunday outside of Monterrey, Mexico. No cause is yet known for the crash, and all seven people on board have been confirmed dead.

"My son, Lupillo, told me that effectively it was Jenni's plane that crashed and that everyone on board died," her father, Pedro Rivera, told reporters.

Jenni, who was 43, was born in Long Beach, CA, and had been living in the L.A. area. She has sold over 15 million albums worldwide and was known as the "Diva of Banda." She was also nominated for three Latin Grammy Awards.

She had just given a concert for thousands of fans in Monterrey on Saturday night, December 8.

Jenni has also become a beloved TV personality as a coach on the Mexican version of The Voice and the star of her own reality show, I Love Jenni.

Jenni was married three times, and split from her most recent husband, pro baseball player Esteban Loaiza, in October 2012. She leaves behind five children.

Our thoughts go out to her family and loved ones, along with anyone else affected by this tragedy.
