The Voice Top 4: Best Performance of the Night From the Live Semi-Finals, Dec. 10, 2012 (VIDEO)

While we’re used to seeing Team Blake’s Terry McDermott deliver classic rock songs, but his twist on The Beatles’ iconic “Let It Be” on last night’s live semi-finals was a welcome change of pace. The Scottish rocker has plenty of stiff competition on The Voice Season 3, but he blew them all out of the water with a smooth, flawless rendition of the beloved tune.

With only a piano and a small gospel choir backing him, his voice shone through, delivering an emotional, heartfelt performance to close out the night. While the entire song was incredible, there were a few ad-libs and soaring high notes, and though we didn’t clap nearly as much as Blake Shelton, Terry definitely had us on our feet at home. In fact, this was perhaps his strongest performance of the season, showcasing a slightly-softer side of his voice while still commanding the stage.

The coaches thought that this was the perfect fit for Terry, too, raving about his performance. Since we agree with everything Adam and Blake said, we’re going to let them provide our final two reasons why Terry delivered the best performance of the night.

Adam kicked off the commentary, saying, “Thank God for you, Terry. You’re so wonderful. Also, just sometimes there’s so much wrong with the world and to have this show and to have things like this that make us all so happy and inspire us, it’s really important. I know it’s just a silly TV show, but it’s pretty damn great. You did an incredible job, bro.”

“That song … that’s sacred ground, and there are only a handful of singers in the world who should attempt that, and you're one of them, by the way,” his coach, Blake, said. “None of us will ever be able to sit here and scientifically ever decide what perfection is in music, but in my heart, in my absolute heart, I believe that that was musical perfection.”
