Gossip Girl Season 6 Finale Promo: Our In-Depth Analysis of “New York, I Love You XOXO”

Before we begin even thinking about the end of Gossip Girl, let’s all take a breath. Okay, now here’s a scene-by-scene analysis of Season 6, Episode 10 "New York, I Love You XOXO." We painstakingly caught all the things that are going on here in the promo. Think we missed something? Tell us.

Reporter: “The deceased was none other than Bart Bass himself.”

The first time Bart Bass “died,” there was a funeral, but this time there’s a body. And as any forensic noob could tell you, that’s a little more important to prove someone is really dead. We saw him fall at the end of "The Revengers," but is there any way he could be fooling us again?

Georgina smirks in the crowd.

Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) is often the first to know things (is she Gossip Girl?), so it doesn’t surprise us that she’s in the crowd as the reporter reveals Bart’s death to the television-watching masses.

Reporter: “Chuck Bass is wanted for questioning.”

We’re not sure who told police that Chuck (Ed Westwick) was present at his father’s death, but the secret’s out...

Reporter: “We have no information on his whereabouts”

No matter what happens, seeing Chuck and Blair (Leighton Meester) in their normal limo backseat scenario makes us feel like everything will be okay.

Jack: “A lot of people are looking for you”

We kind of dig the “Jack (Desmond Harrington) as butler” thing, but how exactly did he end up serving tea to the stowaways? And how strong are his loyalties to Chuck, anyway? He doesn’t have the best track record...

Serena: “I can’t leave until I know if...”
Dan: “Do you understand how I feel now?”

So, Serena (Blake Lively) did read Dan (Penn Badgley)’s more flattering chapter. Does that mean she’s going to forgive him? Will they end up happily ever after, or is this just a quick conversation pit stop before the end of Derena forever?

Chuck: “Will you marry me?”

Spoiler alert: The answer is yes.

Ivy: “You’re the devil!”

Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) and William van der Woodsen (William Baldwin) aren’t exactly our favorite couple, but if we were going to pick one big blowout for the episode, this would not have been it. Bonus, Ivy seems to be getting arrested. And is that Georgina we spot in the background?

Nate: “This is about Gossip Girl.”

The soundbites they catch from Nate (Chace Crawford) always make him seem like some sort of remedial puppy, but we bet there’s a little context we’re missing. What is he reading? Is it something from this folder? Something that belongs to Dan? Tell us what you think.

Serena: “You’ve had the power to reveal her identity this entire time.”

It looks like Serena is talking to Dan, but maybe Nate is involved too? At the end of “The Revengers,” Sage (Sofia Black-D’Elia) pointed out that Nate was working on the story when she first met him and that he has unique access to our favorite masked mystery. Will he follow through with a little help from his friends?

Cyrus: “Do you Chuck take Blair to be your...”
Cops: “Chuck Bass?! Come with us!”

We want Cyrus Rose (Wallace Shawn) to officiate our wedding, too, for the record. But we’d prefer to leave the cops out. Will the couple be able to live together til death do them part, or do the men in blue have other ideas? We’ll have to wait and see...
