Is Caroline Playing Klaus? Vampire Diaries Speculation

There have been some adorable moments between Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) on The Vampire Diaries lately. Moments many people hope lead to some hot Original-vampire lovin’.

In E! Online’s sneak peek of Season 4, Episode 9, “O Come All Ye Faithful,” the flirting continues. Caroline seems to genuinely like Klaus’s painting. (For a mass murderer, he certainly enjoys making art about things found in Julie Andrews songs.) But how much of Caroline’s flattery is real and how much is a by-product of the plan to distract Klaus from Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Hayley’s (Phoebe Tonkin) sire breaking?

They’ve been doing a great job of pretending, but Tyler and Caroline haven’t actually broken up, right? He jealously watched her at the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, while she seemed stunned to see Hayley on the hybrid’s arm. (And the she-wolf is clearly into her “pal.”) Yet we haven’t seen Car and Ty in a scene since. But according to TV Guide, Caroline is still on Tyler's side. “She loves him,” Candice Accola says.

Yet if Caroline’s flirtation with Klaus is all a facade, she’s doing it brilliantly. “If we’re going to be nice to each other, then I will need that glass of champagne,” she tells him; if she were too eager to talk to the OV, Klaus would be instantly suspicious. Instead, she remains standoffish, only gracing him with her smile when he truly earns it.

In the episode’s promo, we finally see Tyler and Caroline together again, but neither looks happy. Is the blond vamp playing her part too well?
