Grey's Anatomy

Shonda Rhimes’s Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal Nominated For Nine NAACP Awards!

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is no stranger to awards shows, and this year is no any different. The LA Times reports that between Scandal and Grey’s, Shonda’s shows racked up a total of nine NAACP Award nominations.

Both shows were nominated for Drama Series, where they will represent ABC against the likes of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Treme, and True Blood. And in the Actress in a Drama Series category, Grey’s stars Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) will face Scandal’s Kerry Washington, Treme’s Khandi Alexander, and SouthLAnd’s Regina King.

Now it’s on to the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category, where Grey’s Anatomy’s Loretta Devine (Adele Webber) will take on The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi, Parenthood’s Joy Bryant, SouthLAnd’s Lucy Lui, and True Blood’s Rutina Wesley.

And, finally, Shonda Rhimes received two nominations herself for writing, one for Grey’s Anatomy and one for Scandal, where she’s up against SouthLAnd’s Cheo Hodari Coker, Criminal Mind’s Janine Sherman Barrios and fellow Grey’s Anatomy writer Zoanne Clack.

The only downside of being so good is having to compete with yourself … and your fellow writers. Either way, congrats Shonda!

Who do you guys want to see take home the awards?

Catch the next new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, December 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
