Vampire Diaries Logic Fails For Season 4, Episode 8

The Vampire Diaries is a show where witches can bring people back from the dead, vampires kiss humans instead of ripping their throats out, and werewolves have silky smooth chests when they haven’t transformed. And we accept all of this without blinking an eye. Yet it’s the little things that make us scoff and say, “That would never happen.” Check out the biggest logic fails from Season 4, Episode 8, “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street.”

Stefan and blood don’t mix, so send him to war?
First of all, Stefan (Paul Wesley), are you crazy? If the government realizes it has an unstoppable cog in its ranks, they’ll lock you up and study you until they find out how to make a whole army of unkillable soldiers. Second of all, Lexi wanted Stefan to do penance for killing a bunch of people, so she sends him to war? Yeah, yeah, he was going to go all Ernest Hemingway and be an ambulance driver, but what are the odds that he wouldn’t see some combat? And besides, Stefan still couldn’t see blood without vamping out. Maybe he needed to stay off the frontlines for a few more decades.

The hybrids take Caroline
Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has a crush on Caroline (Candice Accola) (and this show just loves to see her tortured), but why would his hybrid army take her over Elena (Nina Dobrev)? Don’t the OV’s right-hand hybrids spend every waking minute with him? They probably know how badly he’s wanted to keep Elena alive without the doppelganger explaining it to them. Kim’s plan was convoluted (let’s make Klaus angry!), but it allowed Elena to try and martyr herself again.

You want to kill 12 people; I want to kill 12 hybrids. What a coincidence!
Sorry, there must have been a better way to tell us that Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) use of Expression is bad news than to have it tied up in the witch Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan happen to visit in New Orleans. Not only did the witch Valerie trick Damon into killing 12 humans back in 1942, we learn that Professor Shane (David Alpay) is concocting a similar spell with a dozen unsired hybrids. Well, probably anyway.

The sire bond
We’re still just confused by the sire bond. We know Elena had feelings for Damon before she turned, and that’s what triggered the bond. Got it. It’s the rest of the rules that are perplexing. Stefan asks Damon to name one time Elena disobeyed him. Damon can’t. What about the time she didn’t drink that girl’s blood at Whitmore College. And are there different levels of siring, because Elena has never acted like brick-counting Charlotte. Then Tyler (Michael Trevino) tells Elena the sire bond doesn’t affect how you feel, just how you act.The sire bond made Tyler grateful towards Klaus; isn’t that more of an emotion than an action? Hopefully we’ll get some more clarification...
