Alicia Keys Says Motherhood Has Made Her a Better Person — But She Stuggles to Balance Everything
Alicia Keys says she keeps on falling in love with being a mom.
“Being a parent has made me more open, more connected to myself, more happy, and more creative,” the singer tells Scholastic Parent & Child (via People).
“I’m more discerning in what I do and how I do it. It’s just made me a better person all the way around,” she continues.
The "Empire State of Mind" singer has a 2-year-old son with husband Swizz Beatz.
“What’s been surprisingly easy is just how natural parenthood feels,” Alicia says. “I feel great about how easily I’ve fallen into the role. I love it!”
The only thing difficult is finding time for everything in her busy life. “What’s been surprisingly hard about becoming a mom is being away from him,” says the 31-year-old mom, “and trying to find that magical balance for everything, which I kind of expected.”
What are her favorite ways to spend time with her son, Egypt? “We love to go to art galleries and to the park,” Alicia says. “We love to do painting days and to visit our family — and we also love to run around our house and just go nuts!”
Sounds like they have fun in the concrete jungle where dreams are made of.
