Fifth Harmony: Our X Factor Fate Is in God’s Hands Now
X Factor boybanders Emblem3 were eliminated December 13, 2012, shocking the audience, judges, and flooring Britney Spears (her appalled face is now in the GIF hall of fame). Girl group Fifth Harmony is still in it to win it, a fact even their mentor Simon Cowell considers a triumph. “Going into this, let’s be realistic, you were the underdogs,” Simon told the girls after they took the stage on December 12, adding that their song choice spoke to their future. “Now, anything could happen.”
Backstage after the performances on December 12, 2012, Fifth Harmony’s members (Camila Cabella, Ally Brooke, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Lauren Juaregi) spoke with reporters, gushing about Emblem3. The boys were eliminated less than 24 hours later, but here’s what the girls had to say about their male counterparts — and their hopes for the finale.
Who do you think knocked it out of the park [on December 12]? Lauren: Emblem 3. They did fantastic and picked songs that are them. Camila: I was so happy for them, my gosh. Normani: They have been bummed out because of the song choices in the past weeks, and this week they got to be themselves again and it was awesome to see them like that. Lauren: I love them. They deserve it too. Dinah: They deserve it so much, everywhere you go you can see them jamming. Lauren: They love it! They do it because they love it.
If it's between you two what will happen then? Camila: We won't love them so much. Lauren: But wait, at this point it's up to America. We girls gave it our absolute all and 110%, it's in God's hands now. There's nothing we can do about it. Dinah: We have no control now. Lauren: We know for a fact we are incredibly proud of ourselves and of them. Normani: I feel like whoever goes home tomorrow, which is unfortunate, I feel like going home won't take anything away from you–honestly.
