TV Commercials Are Now Quieter: Can You Hear the Cheers?

No more screaming ads on your TV!

According to CNN, the Federal Communications Commission has barred broadcasters and pay TV providers from airing "excessively loud" commercials. From now on, ads have to maintain the "same average volume" as the programs with which they air. The change was made official through the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act in 2010, with the FCC setting December 13, 2012, as the deadline for full compliance.

So you shouldn't have to lower the volume every time the commercials come on. That's certainly something to shout about!
