Vampire Diaries Season 4: Candice Accola Calls [SPOILER] an A**hole and Reveals Who Caroline Has Surprising Chemistry With

Vampire DiariesCaroline (Candice Accola) has set a high bar for herself. Not only is she a former Miss Mystic Falls, fending off Klaus’s (Joseph Morgan) advances and guiding her BFF Elena (Nina Dobrev) through the world of being a newbie vampire, but now she has to try and maintain her cool around the one person she truly cannot stand: Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

“I think Caroline has every right not to have any respect for Damon,” Candice told IGN in an interview. “[Now that] she feels loved and she knows what that means now — she’s like, ‘Oh, yeah. That guy? Guess what? I have the balls to say now that he’s an a**hole! And I have every right to say that he’s an a**hole, and he deserves to be called an a**hole!’ She does not feel guilty about it, and I love that.”

Well, we can think of one reason she might feel guilty, and her name rhymes with Delena. “She’s going to love Elena,” Candice explained, “but it doesn’t change the way that Damon treated Caroline. I think she can support Elena knowing that even if Damon’s changed and he’s really loving her, it doesn’t change what he did to Caroline. I love that she owns that, and she’s fully okay with saying, ‘Screw you.’”

While Caroline may always harbor disgust for Damon, there is one Salvatore she’s warmed up to in the form of Stefan (Paul Wesley). And Caroline opened up about how she sees their relationship changing in Season 4 of Vampire Diaries. “I never thought that these characters would have any sort of chemistry or anything to talk about. And yet in Season 2 they’ve proved that they have so much more in common, and I can see that now.”

Does that chemistry foretell a future where Caroline and Stefan could see each other as more than just friends? Staroline shippers, rejoice!
