The X Factor 2012: Carly Rose Sonenclar Wasn’t Producers’ First Choice!
The tears we cried when Emblem3 was cut from The X Factor have almost dried... almost. But it could have been a lot more emotional, you guys. When we think about what this season would have been like without Carly Rose Sonenclar, the tears well up again.
Let’s rewind real fast, shall we? Carly Rose spoke recently with the NY Post about her journey to The X Factor, and it wasn’t all rainbows and unicorn-shaped barrettes, okay?
The 13-year-old Broadway vet tells the mag, “I was an alternate.” She auditioned for the show at a mall kiosk and was only allowed to audition after another act dropped out at the last minute. “They came back to me a couple of weeks later and said I had to go to Providence the next morning — but I may not ever get seen,” the “little diva” says.
But apparently, reality TV hasn’t always been so kind to Carly Rose. Earlier this year, she auditioned for America’s Got Talent alongside a buddy on piano. They performed Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” but were cut and never made it on television.
