The Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 10: “After School Special” — How Will Tyler Cope?

It’s going to be a rough time for Tyler (Michael Trevino) when Vampire Diaries returns with Season 4, Episode 10, “After School Special.”

Not only did Klaus (Joseph Morgan) kill Tyler’s mom, Mayor Lockwood, the OV may not consider that enough payback for his former minion un-siring the hybrid army. “Tyler's first order of business actually is to mourn,” Julie Plec tells “This is the last thing he ever expected that would happen, and the loss of his mom is a pretty powerful thing for him.”

As Tyler is dealing with his grief and guilt, he’ll also be on edge. Plec points out Tyler will be “looking over his shoulder wondering if Klaus is there to chop his head off. Also, I'm sure [he's] trying to figure out if there's any move he can make or anything he can do to regain the upper hand against Klaus, although it looks pretty bleak.” In short: There’s a lot on Tyler’s plate.

Maybe Caroline (Candice Accola) can help? Though she and Tyler weren’t in the best place recently, it looks like they repaired some of the fissures in their relationship in the latest episode. In the interview, Julie says the couple was “able to make things right with each other before tragedy struck. Caroline's going to be more concerned about him when we come back and really want to reconnect with him and make him open up to her so that she can help him heal from this experience.” In Mystic Falls, nothing brings people together like plotting someone else’s doom.

Plus, it has to help that Caroline was kind of vindicated with the whole Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) thing.
