X Factor 2012: Has Tate Stevens Been Promised a Recording Contract?
We just want to let you all know that we’ve started a cover band called “Sate Tevens” wherein we cover all of Tate Stevens’s X Factor covers while dressed as his mentor, L.A. Reid, dressed as Tate. Got it? Good. Our first album will drop as soon as we know what Tate’s is called...
Speaking of that album thing, we were wondering whether or not Tate may already have a backup plan or a little secret somethin’ promised to him if he doesn’t win Season 2. It was announced on the December 13 show that Tate is among three finalists — Carly Rose Sonenclar and Fifth Harmony being the others — who will sing for a $5 million dollar contract with Syco Entertainment on the December 19 final.
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Tate after the semi-finals on December 12 to chat about his mentality going into the last week.
“I don't want to leave this show,” Tate told the press backstage. “But if my ride is over or I win the whole thing, then that is amazing! But it’s up to America and I can't do anything about it! I have to have a career when this is over!”
It’s obvious that America does indeed love him, but as we all know, money matters. So, how Tate been promised a contract post-XF? “You hear things, but it hasn't been directly, they all say it in one form or another... ‘I think you are going to have a career’ or whatever, but no one has sat down and said, ‘you know what, you are going to be signed to such in such a label, we think you’re going to be this or that...’ That hasn't happened!”
While we’d be delighted to sign him to the record label we’re gonna start right after we finish this article, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. As for what he’s going to sing, will he stick with country music or give it a spin?
“I think eventually that would be kinda cool, to venture off and do the pop kind of stuff or rock sounding stuff no matter how you look at it but I have to get my foot in the door with the country thing! That is my goal, if I can make it as a country act then that is the goal...”
