Lady Gaga Seen in New $210K Russian Sable — What Happened to Her Anti-Fur Stand?

It'd be one thing if Lady Gaga had never said anything on the subject of fur and was spotted wearing it. But back in 2009, Gaga told Ellen DeGeneres, "I hate fur and I don't wear fur."

PETA reminded her of that statement this past August, when Gaga was spotted wearing fox and rabbit and a wolf carcass. After that backlash, Gaga posted a statement on her website:

"I want you to know that I care deeply about your feelings and views, and I will always support your philosophies about life,” Gaga wrote. “I do not however support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for ANY CAUSE. Particularly one I respect: Animal Rights. ... I am choosing not to comment on whether the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypocritical not to acknowledge a python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, ‘kermit’ and not to mention meat, that I have already worn. ... I am not a strict vegan. I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially I have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won’t bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat…You see a carcass, I see a museum pièce de résistance. ... But I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this, its a fair and applaudable feeling about the health and safety of animals. I respect your views, please respect mine."

Now it's December and Gaga was recently spotted shopping for high-end fur coats in Moscow. Page Six's spies said Mother Monster "picked up a dark brown Barguzin Russian sable worth about $210,000, and wore the lush coat out of the store after she shopped. She also picked up a green-dyed silver fox coat worth about $19,600."

The staffers loved her, calling her "charming and easygoing," but it's just going to disappoint her animal rights fans even more. Besides, a coat worth $210,000?! That's just insane, whether you're anti-fur or not.
